Fan and cooling

For the first year owning the car it would regularly overheat.
During the winter of 2010 I fully flushed the cooling system and replaced the fan.
On inspection is was noticed that the fan was actually from a mini. Now, the mini has a
transverse mounted engine that blows air out of the radiator rather than suck. It appears
that the previous owner bent each of the blades to the opposite pitch. In theory this should
work but as can be seen from the image below there is a large area in the centre of the fan
that doesn’t move any air.
Now that a proper A30/35 fan has been fitted overheating is a thing of the past
